It’s time for the other football character from Mortal Kombat Mobile to make an appearance. Kombat Kup Sonya Blade is ready to protect the goal in its weekly tower.
Sonya Blade is one of the oldest characters in the franchise, dating back to the original Mortal Kombat. Lieutenant in a fictional version of the American special forces, Sonya joined the Mortal Kombat tournament to pursue the leader of the black dragon, Kano. After Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung and gained critical victory for Earth Realm, Sonya teamed up with Johnny Cage and Kano to defeat Goro as Shang Tsung Island began to collapse, when it was captured and taken to the Outworld. Sonya was out of service in the second game, although she was able to send a message to her supervisor, Jax, during her capture. She was shown chained and exposed on the stage of Shao Kahn. After Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn, Sonya was released by Jax, although Kano managed to escape custody.
Sonya would again hear Raiden’s call after Shang Tsung and Quan Chi killed Liu Kang at the opening of the Deadly Alliance, where she would join efforts to arrest the wizards. She was killed in this attempt, marking the first of three Sonya deaths in the series.
Sonya was resurrected by the dragon king Onaga, but her soul was restored by Ermac in Deception and resumed her duties in the OWIA.
This brought her to Armageddon, where she tried to question Taven about what had happened at Tekunin base before realizing that he had nothing to do with it and letting him go. She was last seen during the opening cutscene alongside the Forces of Light fighting Frost. At one point, she died in this battle, marking her second death.
During Netherrealm’s restarted timeline, she shows up again in the first tournament in pursuit of Kano, but also tries to free her superior Jax. She succeeds in this task, and like her previous timeline,
